Who are we?

Vicky’s School of dance has been running for 9 years now and so far has been successful when entering competitions. Over the years the school has gradually been increasing as Vicky’s dance school is held at two different venues enabling people from different areas to join. Vicky teaches a range of different styles of dancing so that there is a style of dancing for everyone, there are classes for different abilities enabling those people who are more advanced to progress their dancing further.

 Vicky

Vicky danced from an early age originally taking up ballet, tap and modern but then soon took interest in Ballroom, Latin American and street dancing. Vicky completed many IDTA

Medallists examinations at the Walderslade school of dance and was also awarded most improved in the schools closing year. Vicky then spent five years at a local dance school assisting in classes, competing in competitions, taking medals and realized her passion was to one day have her own dance school. Vicky then took her first teachers qualification in August 2001 and took over a street dance class at a local sports center. Gradually the school grew and grew with new classes opening, more pupils joining and soon Vicky’s students were competing in competitions.

Over the last seven years the school has been Vicky’s number one priority. Vicky is a qualified teacher in Ballroom, Latin and street/freestyle and is gradually increasing her qualifications with the aim to one day become an examiner.

Vicky is young at heart and has a very good relationship with pupils of all ages. Vicky is always looking to expand the school in new ways and take on new challenges. Vicky is famous within the school for creating new phrases which keep pupils amused. Vicky is first aid trained.

 Shelley

Shelley was a former pupil of her local dance school in younger years, where she gained a teaching certificate. Shelley teaches within the school on a Monday and a Saturday which enables more pupils to participate in smaller groups therefore making it easier to learn steps. Shelley is married with two children youngest age 10 who dances in the school and a son ages 14. Shelley is also a pre-school assistant during the daytimes in the week, and partners pupils when taking part in solo events at competitions. Shelley is first aid trained.

 Shanice

Shanice is our student teacher who helps out with the street classes and beginners ballroom and latin sessions. She is a very popular member of the school who always has a smile on her face. Shanice is currently studying dance at Mid Kent College whilst also training for her associate qualifications.

CJ

CJ has been training in dance and other performing art aspects since the early age of three, focussing mainly in ballet, tap, modern and jazz. At around the age of twelve her passion for street dancing developed and ever since has been working hard and is determined to achieve the most in the newly formed commercial business.

She has trained with Simeon Qysua, leader of group ‘Bird Gang’ and JLS’s Choreographer, Rachel Quartly leader of Ruby Girls, and Glen Murphy (Twist & Pulse). She has worked professionally with various companies and agents enabling her to feature in George Sampson’s music video ‘Headz up,’ Bashy’s video ‘Your wish is my command,’ Glastonbury Festival with Ruby Girls and a recent Jason Gardiner fashion commercial. After focussing many years on her exams in ISTD, RAD and NATD at a part time school she went to a performing arts secondary school followed by Doreen Birds and (presently) Urdang Academy.

She has currently been teaching at Vicky’s School of Dance for two years and has progressed in her teaching skills and looks to develop alongside the students and help push them as far as they possibly can go.
